Marang Child Care Network Trust(MCCNT) was established in 2004, to complement existing government efforts to strengthen NGO technical capacity to work with Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC). MCCNT has a membership of 76 organizations across the country.

MCCNT invites applications for the post of : Capacity Building Officer.

MAIN ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Reviews and designs curriculum for courses offered by Marang
  • Designs and delivers varied and innovative education and training materials for Marang members and organizes and facilitates in country oriented training courses
  • Offers technical support to OVC day care centres.
  • Assesses the capacity needs of Marang members and assesses the quality of the services provided by Marang members.
  • Supports members of the network to achieve compliance with the national child care standards through various capacity building activities.
  • Designs and runs part time counselling and other programmes for the private sector, government departments, NGOs and individuals for a fee.


REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE

  • At least a first university degree in Education, Social work, Community development, or Early Childhood Education with 3 years relevant child care and HIV and AIDS, counselling, community development and/or education and training experience.
  • Experience in adult learning and child learning.
  • Varied experience in developing learning materials and delivering training courses and other capacity building initiatives.
  • Proven ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people.
  • Excellent communication skills with demonstrated commitment to participatory approaches.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
  • Ability to use ICT to access information and prepares reports.
  • Ability to promote and market projects, producing a range of publicity materials.


Salary: P8,000 per month.

Marang has been able to train and support a total of 60 NGO/CBO/FBO from 15 districts across Botswana. It has made significant strides in the development of NGO/CBO/FBO capacities to provide skilled support to OVC through the following training and activities: organizational development (241 participants), day care management training (76 participants), advocacy (49 participants), community mobilization (reached 1692 stakeholders) alternative care training (133 participants) and PSS mainstreaming (49 participants).
