MARANG CHILD CARE NETWORK TRUST HOLDS ITS FIRST EVER GENERAL ASSEMBLY Marang will hold first ever General Assembly (GA) in Mogoditshane, Windsor Inn on the 25th November 2008 to 27th November 2008. The purpose of the GA is to review the progress and achievements since inception/registration, review and consider proposed work plan for coming years; to review, ratify/approve financial report for past two years and budget for 2008. The GA will also provide opportunity for Board to interact with membership leadership and develop mutual understanding of the way forward. The members will also understand their role and responsibilities in the network. Marang Child Care Network Trust is a network of organizations offering services to Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC).Marang Child Care Network Trust was established as a pilot project in 2004, to complement existing government efforts to strengthen NGO technical capacity to work with OVC infected and affected by HIV and AIDS. The focus was motivated by the understanding that many NGO/CBO/FBO lack capacity and technical skills to effectively implement OVC programs due to inadequate skilled manpower and financial constraints. Marang Child Care Network Trust was registered as a deed of Trust in 2005. The project contributes to the realization of the rights and welfare of the child through advocacy, community mobilization, networking, technical support and capacity building of member organizations. At the moment, Marang works with 80 members and partners offering services to OVC. Objectives Of the General Assembly •To review and adopt the proposed strategic plan and annual operation plan •To consider, review and ratify/approve the financial report •To appoint auditors. •To establish working sub-committees-creating a linkage between board and membership. •To enhance common understanding of the network Outputs Of the General Assembly •Adopted strategic plan and annual plan •Approved financial report •Appointment of auditors •Sub committees established Outcomes Of the General Assembly •Enhanced common understanding of the network •Improved relationships within the network •Improved networking and coordination among organizations Participants Of the General Assembly The 70 organizations and ten partners will take part in the proceedings. As per the deed of trust, if there is any matter that will be voted upon, only paid up organizations will have voting rights. |
