PRESS RELEASE

MARANG CHILD CARE NETWORK TRUST HOLDS ITS FIRST EVER GENERAL ASSEMBLY

Marang held its first ever General Assembly (GA) in Mogoditshane, Windsor Inn on the 25th November 2008 to 27th November 2008. The GA was officially opened by Mr. Morima of BNYC on behalf of BOCONGO. Partners at the GA included Health Policy Initiative, BONASO, BOCONGO, USA Embassy and Human Development Trust. All Marang board members, staff and some volunteers were present.

The purpose of the GA is to review the progress and achievements since inception/registration, review and consider proposed work plan for coming years; to review, ratify/approve financial report for past two years and budget for 2008.  The GA also provided an opportunity for Board to interact with membership leadership and develop mutual understanding of the way forward. The members also had to opportunity to learn more and understand their role and responsibilities in the network.

At the end of the GA the Deed of Trust, strategic plan, annual plan were approved and adopted, the financial report was also approved and sub committees were also established.

About 25 organizations, five partners and 42participants were represented.

News Board

Marang has been able to train and support a total of 60 NGO/CBO/FBO from 15 districts across Botswana. It has made significant strides in the development of NGO/CBO/FBO capacities to provide skilled support to OVC through the following training and activities: organizational development (241 participants), day care management training (76 participants), advocacy (49 participants), community mobilization (reached 1692 stakeholders) alternative care training (133 participants) and PSS mainstreaming (49 participants).
