The National Mental Health and Psychosocial Support Forum, held in Shakawe, marked a significant and commendable event. Spanning over two days from the 19th to the 20th of August 2023, this forum served as a platform of great importance. Bringing together a cohort of more than 200 children hailing from diverse backgrounds, including rural and urban communities such as Bobirwa District Council, Tutume District Council, Okavango District Council, Selibe Phikwe District Council, Francistown District Council, Sowa District Council, North East District Council, Mahalapye District Council, and Tonota District Council, this gathering encompassed children aged between 9 to 18 years.

 

This initiative offered an invaluable opportunity for youth engagement and discourse on a multifaceted spectrum of mental health matters prevalent among the young populace of Botswana. The MC’s were 4 eloquent and proficient young individuals, Thero Tefo Rabotlhale from Tutume District Council, Katlego Rose Martin from Tonota District Council, Botlhe Molale from Francistown City Council and Mandipa Themba from Ghanzi District. the event not only facilitated learning but also spurred discussions aimed at addressing the array of challenges impacting the mental well-being of Botswana's youth.
